Sponge Laura Nudey Pants!

Like most trend-whores, I’m in a bit of a nude mood at the mo. Blush tones, palest corals and warm creams have always been some of my favourite colours to wear, so I look forward to the death of black every Spring. Nude has become, well, nuder! …over the years. It used to be merely a base coat ready for adornment. Now it’s nude on nude on nude; as demonstrated on the Willo runway for Fall 2010

Last time I checked, however, I wasn’t a supermodel (If this changes you’ll be the first to know) so for our Irish skin-tones I do recomend warming it up a little with your accessory choices or accompanying garments. Even a metallic accent can lift it enough to prevent washing yourself out. And it’s all about finding the right shade of nude for you. The old ‘holding it up against your face in the mirror and checking if it makes you look dead’ trick never fails.

Here’s a few ‘must haves’, ‘do haves’ and ‘would kill to haves’ on my list.

Above: Emilio Pucci Swimsuit €425 Net-a-porter / John galliano gown for ‘Fashion for relief’ €1822 Net-a-porter / Camilla and Marc bodycon dress €521 Net-a-porter (Although I would NOT put it with those shoes!…ick)

Below: Burberry prorsum shoes €650 Net-a-porter / Blush shift dress €39 Dresses.ie / Full Skirt Dress £45 Topshop

And finally, some of my favourite celebrity nudey outings from recent months. Big rides the three of them!

Ruffle ruffle!

Are you lot over the pink/nude/pretty-pretty trend yet? I know I’m certainly not and it’s reasons like this Lipsy ruffle skirt that keep drawing me back to the whole overtly feminine look time and time again. I can’t believe this skirt is only £40, it certainly looks like it’s just come off the Chanel or Giambattista Valli catwalk!

By night I’d go for simple blacks and some super shiny platforms but I reckon you could pull this look off with some pretty Grecian style sandals and a beaten up denim jacket for more summery days.

Weekly Purchase.

Long time admirer of Sam Haskins work, i finally decided to fork out for his most prized collection. The Cowboy Kate series.

“The update gives new life to the Haskins’s enchanting and grainy ode to the female form, making it a must-have for photography and fashion lovers alike”. — Mar07 DEPARTURES

Reinventing  nude photography more then 40 years ago, Haskins in a playful manner perfectly depicts the female body through fun loving pictures of a girl of the old west.

So Amazon it was, with the Australian dollar at a decent conversion rate to the US dollar it was well worth the extra shipping cost’.

Summer rain

Steam

The sky is talking

opening in peals of light and sound

rain comes like a blessing

earlier, claustrophobic sticky heat pressing down on sweat-slick skin

that crackles to the touch

gardens launguish, flaccid in this sauna of oppression under a colorless sky

Then, without warning, the heavens open wide

mist rises from the fields

fat cool droplets fall

steam rises from my skin

as I shed my clothes and dance with the land

Flickrotica (3/11/10)

quasistatic is another one of those Flickr photographers who profile tells us virtually nothing about him (except that he’s male, single and joined Flickr in February of 2008). Luckily for us, his photos are each worth well more than a thousand words. His models are delicious, his lighting perfect and his shots well composed. Most of his photos have all rights reserved, but here are a couple which, happily, may be reproduced under a creative commons license.

American woman arrested after crash while grooming pubic hair say cops

The Florida Highway Patrol says Megan Barnes, a 37-year-old woman, was driving while shaving her pubic hair.

It might not surprise you to learn that during Barnes’ ride on the razor’s edge, she allegedly crashed into the backup of a pickup truck in Cudjoe Key, Fla, according to CBS affiliate WFOR. Then, she and her ex-husband reportedly drove another half-mile before being pulled over last Tuesday morning.

We’re told the ex-husband was actually doing the steering — from the passenger seat, of course.

Patrol officers say they determined that in addition to this bit of “landscaping” behind the wheel, Barnes was already driving with a suspended license, just one day after she was convicted of driving under the influence.

Now, for her apparent adventure with blade in hand, throw in charges of reckless driving, driving with a revoked license, leaving the scene of a crash with injuries, and driving without insurance. The good news, nobody was seriously hurt.

Trooper Gary Dunick, describing what Ms. Barnes was thinking, explained, “She said she was meeting her boyfriend in Key West and wanted to be ready for the visit.”

The Beautiful Kind

I recently had the opportunity to photograph The Beautiful Kind for my Identity Project (which I just wrapped up, thank you), and had a very engaging discussion with her as we shot the pictures. She describes her blog as “smut for smart people”, and it is obvious from spending any time talking to her that she is absolutely an intellectual lady. Recently, her blog earned her a designation from the Riverfront Times as one of their “13 Favorite Bloggers” in St. Louis. With all of this attention swimming around her, I thought that it would be a good time to interview her for d’Arte Board.

More pics and the interview after the jump!

Image courtesy of The Beautiful Kind.

ME: Explain the purpose of The Beautiful Kind blog.

TBK: The purpose of The Beautiful Kind is to be a sex positive community where people can get advice, share their experiences, and learn a thing or two from a bonafide sex goddess. The site strives to bring shy folks out of their shell, and offer a safe haven for perverts. All genders, sexual orientations, lifestyles, and fetishes are welcome. Open, honest, and authentic, The Beautiful Kind is sure to entertain, educate, titillate, and inspire. Smut for smart people.

ME: Your blog was recently voted, in a Riverfront Times poll, as one of St. Louis’ favorites; why do you think that your blog is so popular?

TBK: My blog is popular because it’s well done, has good content, is wildly interesting and entertaining, but most of all, people can be themselves and address their deep, dark secrets. Readers see all the crazy stuff I explore and it encourages them to work their own kinks out.

ME: Do you think that being a woman, and writing the type of content that you do, helps or hinders your popularity and/or your mission?

TBK: Being an attractive woman absolutely helps my mission. I can get away with saying A LOT. If a man said some of the things I say, it would be creepy. I’m non-threatening.

ME: What are some of the particular challenges women face in becoming professionals within the Erotica Industry?  Do you think that there are any advantages?

TBK: The biggest challenge women face in being pro in the erotic industry is that most men think that because she is open to being sexual and nude, she is open for business. They assume she is a nymphomaniac and they feel free to take liberties. Many men see a nude woman and take that as a sign that she is presenting herself as sexually available. It’s hard for a woman to do things on her own terms, especially when she is young or new to the scene.

As far as advantages go, women are the golden key. Women hold great sexual power, but too often they allow men to make decisions for them. They allow themselves to be manipulated. I certainly did when I was a stripper at 19.

ME: On your blog you mention some of the services you provide in addition to your writing and commentary.  These include, Sex Consultant and Sex Surrogate; can you explain what these services offer, and how you approach either role, in terms of the steps you take?

TBK: I offer a variety of services. One is a sex consultant. This is where I meet with someone and help them work through their sexual issues for $60/hr. This is a talking service. It’s a sex or relationship coach role. I use my vast research and personal experience to help people discover themselves and find happiness and satisfaction. I have people tell me they have breakthroughs with me after one or two sessions that they haven’t experienced after months of therapy with a licensed therapist.

I also offer sex surrogacy on a very selective basis. This is hands on therapy and costs $200+ an hour. I’ve worked with men who are dealing with issues such as adult virginity, awkward social skills, premature ejaculation, and erectile dysfunction. I wrote an intro to this concept that can be found here.

ME: You also mention some of the life experiences that you’ve had, some of which include dark moments that you’ve had to overcome, like molestation as a child.  Have you thought of offering guidance or therapy to children who have recently gone through such an event, or have you actually done such work?

TBK: I don’t prefer working or spending time with children. As far as social services go, I gravitate more towards adults, sex, seniors, and death & dying issues. That said, I am fiercely committed to raising my daughter right. She is 9, the same age I was when I was molested. I’m incredibly grateful that she has not had to experience any of the trauma I experienced as a child. I aim to keep her safe, healthy, and intact. She is the most important person in the world to me, and I’m proud to say she is more aware of “what time it is” than most adults I know. She’s a rare gem. I keep a blog for her here.

ME: Readers of this interview have probably already noted that you keep your identity separate from The Beautiful Kind.  Do you hope that there will eventually be a moment when you will be comfortable publicly expressing both in context of each other, and how have you managed to keep quiet about your blog, say, at work?  Have there been complications?

TBK: I am open and honest about my lifestyle. My family and friends know all about me, but I do have safety and career concerns. If I ever made it big and had a book deal and had a national presence and could make a living off TBK then I would come out all the way. Definitely not there yet. I still need to protect myself in case I get a mainstream job. Also, no one at my daughter’s school knows about TBK. They just know me as the shy Girl Scout Cookie Captain.

ME: Given the separation of identities, do you see some kind of resolution in terms of your decision to participate in my Identity Project?  If so, was it a conscious attempt for you to express two different personas or to show the correlation between two halves of yourself that some people in your “real” life might find otherwise dichotomous?

TBK: By participating in your Identity Project, I hoped to explore the two sides of my life – mother/vanilla – whore/goddess, and use the project as a therapeutic exercise. I love both sides of myself, and want to celebrate both. Most people can only handle one side of me. I feel best around the people who can accept ALL of me for who I am. I’m very lucky I have an open and honest relationship with both my primary partner and my daughter. I can be myself with them, and they can be themselves with me. I realize this is rare, and I truly appreciate it.

ME: Where do you see The Beautiful Kind going, in the future?

TBK: As far as TBK goes, I would love to have a nationally syndicated column. I have an underground following, and would love to break through and reach the mainstream. I’d love to have a sponsor. I want a book deal. I want to share all my fantastic ideas with more people. I’ve had a fascinating life worthy of a memoir. I’m also working on an ebook for women called “The Book of Goddess: Elevating Your Desirability to Mythic Proportions.” My goal is to release that this spring. I’m fine sharing my body with others visually and physically, but would rather make money off my brain. I’ve changed many lives with my site, and that means a lot to me. I want to continue making a difference as I live my rich and beautiful life.

Congrats to TBK for her Riverfront Times mention, and go check her out everyone!

Sci-fi Week: Legend of the Seeker Babes

Gotta love this series, if you like girls in latex, look no further. You got plenty here to choose between. The series is made after the bestseller books from Terry Goodkind, Legend of the Seeker, a grim tale but is lighter in tone in the TV-series and that’s probably for the best. The books are quite dark in a sense, never really any nice ending for the Kahlan and Richard.

failalalala

hey guys! so it’s been a few weeks since i’ve updated my blog, but i have a good excuse why. i downloaded wordpress mobile to my blackberry a few weeks ago and i wrote up a few blogs, but they all god deleted. how great. so everything i was going to say will be written into this blog. but to be honest, i really don’t have much to say and i don’t feel like re-writing for the third time what’s going on in my life, so i’ll just say the what comes to mind.

my aunt came down from canada and she’s visiting which is great. the last time i saw her was when my mom was in the hospital back in november and she came to visit. before then, i’d go up to canada a few times a year and stay with her, but ever since the hospital, we just stay in florida. although it’s nice to see her and all, my mom and her always drink bottles of wine every night, and they get so loud. it’s really hard to sleep when you can hear them laughing and talking through the vents. but i guess it’s worth seeing her because i love her!

in other news, my computer got a virus last weekend and i can’t figure out how to fix it, so i’ve just been using my mom’s mac and my phone to do things i want to do. the virus that attacked my laptop is one of those fake security softwares and all it does is pop up every second saying that i can’t do anything on my computer until i pay it money. what a scam. the program/virus is called xp guardian and i’ve had something like it before. the one i had in the past i easily fixed by googling the issue and doing what it told me to do, but this one is a lot more complicated. i think the only reason why i get viruses is because my friend remotely went on to my computer and deleted my norton because he said it sucked, and then he downloaded some bootleg program he got off pirate bay. the program he downloaded worked okay, until i found out that it was just a trial and it stopped working. ugh, whatever. i made an account on dailybooth.com, which is a place where you just upload pictures of yourself everyday via webcam, and i’m going to start uploading pictures once my computer goes back to normal.

believe it or not, i’m actually reading a book on my own, called “living buddha, living christ”, by thich nhat hanh which is a book about… well i can’t even describe it, but i’m only on the 5th chapter and it’s amazing. it really puts things into perspective and helps you to live in the moment. ironically, my old catholic theology teacher recommended it to me. i’ve always been into buddhism because some of my family is into it, but lately i’ve wanted to study it more and fully understand it. also, since my mom and her boyfriend are christian, i can relate to it even more, hence the “living christ” part.

well, this is all that comes to mind right now. i’m about to go out and get my nude tan on. and a big thanks to whoever asked about my blog on formspring. it makes me really happy to know that someone actually cares about my writings. if y’all don’t mind, you guys can leave comments saying what you think of my blog and any suggestions that i could use to make it even better. i’m planning on putting more media into my future blogs such as photos and videos. maybe i’ll even switch it up and make some vlogs (video blogs) every now and then.

till next time my loves.
