In 2007 a great photo series called Naked Splin City was shot by photographer Miru Kim. She took her own naked body and incorporated scenes of abandoned urban structures in New York City. The project later expanded to Europe, Korea, and Honduras. originally Kim was looking for rats to photograph in the subway but turned into a history discovery project on cities. The lighting is unique because Kim either relies on the sun or artificial light from her flashlight or bulbs in the area. Little light sources increase the focal areas of the photographs immensely. Kim’s face is always staring off looking at the place and never the camera, like a hidden spirit under concrete and lime stone.
