Of Models and Mistresses...

Journal of Eugene Delacroix, front cover

Journal of Euguene Delacroix, back cover

Just a little something I found today at the thrift store…

The Journal of Eugene Delacriox

Without question the most important intimate record by a great artist since the Notebook of Leonardo De Vinci. And in one retrospect it surpasses that classic, for it includes a fascinating revelation of Delacroix’s personal life-of his love affairs , of his models and mistresses, of his dealings with with friends and enemies, and of the hopes and aspirations by which he was motivated.

Sam Haskins Month, Day 10: Pioneer of in-camera montage techniques, now fallen by the wayside

One of the things Sam Haskins is known for is his in-camera montages, which made him highly sought after for advertisement and design layouts. “Big Apple Face,” directly below, is an example from his official site.

Haskins achieved amazing effects well before the advent of the computer software used today to digitally reach the same look. He explains the composition of another famous piece, which shows a model seemingly embedded in rose fabric, in one of his blog entries:

Here is a 1970’s reminder of a pre-Photoshop montage world. This image is to be included in my new book. Its a single exposure with the model viewed through optical glass at 45º and the fabric positioned to the side.

Lindy Mirrored RosesAt the time there was zero retouching after the event. Now of course I have the luxury of scanning the transparency to clean and refine the image in Photoshop – God bless its digital socks. (Sam’s blog.)

“God bless its digital socks.” He’s so funny. Was. That’s depressing. This whole suicide thing really shocks me. It just didn’t jive with what I’d always read and heard about him, and his high-humored sense of fun. But his son said his stroke changed his personality. I guess it was very frustrating to him and he considered it very limiting. I just don’t know how I feel about the whole thing.

Miley Cyrus Breasts – Tattoo - Pedophile

At 17, too young to get "inked" legally in the United States, Miley Cyrus has already started messing up her young body with tattoos.  The first of what is sure to be many to follow is located beneath her left breast and reads "Just Breath".

She has told friends she got it because that’s what she’s had to tell each of the 20 something year old men that she’s let play with them.

It’s so very, very sad!

Note that given the location of the tattoo the adult male that "inked" her had to fondle those underage breasts in the process.

SOMEONE PLEASE START PRESSING CHARGES AGAINST ALL THESE PEDOPHILES USING MILEY ! ! ! !

Museworthy Medley

Hi everyone! Greetings from my first post for the month of December. I’m just writing one of my little hodgepodge entries with some goodies that might be of interest. First, I want to announce that I’ll be starting new art modeling work at the Janus Collaborative School of Art, which is located in upper Manhattan. My first booking there is next week, Monday through Friday, and I’m looking forward to it. It’s always exciting to start at a different place and bring my modeling to a new group of students. I’ll blog all about it after it begins but until then, wish me luck!

Several people, friends and blog readers, thoughtfully shared with me with a link to the New York Times obituary for Charis Wilson, who was muse and model for the photographer Edward Weston. Thanks to all of you who emailed it. But I have to give credit to the one person who beat everyone else to the punch: my mother. Trust me, the woman is fast. She would have made a great gunslinger in the Old West

Also, many of you might want to visit the wonderful Art Inconnu blog which is dedicated to featuring the work of lesser-known, somewhat “forgotten” artists of the 19th and 20th centuries. Great stuff on there, and exploring the blog is a refreshing and educational experience. Check it out!

Last but not least, go to this link on Doug Rogers’ blog and see what my longtime reader friend has done :-) I’m blushing with pride, and reminded that I am the “muse” I claim to be (sometimes I forget). As if Doug’s piece wasn’t enough to give me a pleasantly swelled head, I have more artistic reader love from Jim in Alaska, who created this work from my Museworthy birthday photo. Thank you Doug and Jim! I love you guys.

I’ll leave everyone with an image for the day. This is Andre Derain’s Bathers, from 1907:

Painted Boobs & Possible Hiatus

Hi all, sorry for the lack of updates, for some reason the internet at my sisters house has blocked my computer from access. Right now I’m stealing a neighbour’s wireless to update but don’t know how long it will last so there might be a hiatus before I can post again.

I just had a shoot with a central coast photographer and got painting on myself, see some unedited previews below:

I’ll be looking at houses the next few days and doing some nude glamour shoots too. I’ll post and let you know how they go if I can.

Thoughts on the pics?
